This position is physical and requires light to medium lifting, so if you want to knock out your workout on the job, this may be the position for you. You’ll need to be able to work on the weekends when the most people visit our adoption center to adopt! On those busy days, the ability to prioritize, balance and manage multiple efforts is imperative to making the biggest impact. If you exhibit excellent leadership, organization and communication skills, your resume will move to the top! Medical or training experience is an added bonus that will make you stand out for the position.

Position Responsibilities:

Animal Adoptions

  • Adoption Counseling: Finding the best match for the home, conducting safe meet & greets and being able to resolve difficult situations calmly and effectively.
  • Customer Care for Adoption Center: Engage and welcome each customer in a friendly and helpful manner.
  • Adoption Center Branding: Be knowledgeable of current pricing, promotions, programs and events. Encourage and exhibit a positive, open culture.

Animal & Team Wellness

  • Oversee daily operations of the kennel/cattery and assign kennel staff in accordance with policies, procedures,and safety standards.
  • Manage staff on daily routines and maintaining high standards of care.
  • Liaison with Program Vet Tech/Clinic for sick and wellness issues.

Daily Operations

  • Animal Inventory
  • Maintain solid coordination and communications with team.
  • Marketing: Providing Animal Bios, Pictures, Videos, and Kennel Cards
  • Recruit, train and engage volunteers
  • Work with cloud-based systems
  • Follow open and close procedures for adoption center including daily revenue logs

In this role, you’ll safely work with dogs and cats, partner with municipal shelters throughout the state, and exhibit a positive and energetic attitude while sharing Texas Humane Heroes mission, vision and goals with the community.

This position is physical and requires light to medium lifting, so if you want to knock out your workout on the job, this may be the position for you. This position requires the ability to multi-task, so prioritization and follow through are imperative to making the biggest impact. Medical or training experience is an added bonus that will make you stand out for the position.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with operations team to determine animal needs and available space
  • Manage the animal intake process through municipal shelter partnerships
  • Evaluate new animals for TXHH adoption program
  • Work with new shelters to build partnerships and increase save rates
  • Enter photo and animal information into online software (PetPoint)
  • Ensure animals receive medical review & vaccinations
  • Enter intake vaccinations as well as behavioral & medical review into online software
  • Coordinate with the Foster Coordinator for foster needs
  • Coordinate with the medical team for surgery day
  • Manage Animal Preparation Team including scheduling and hour approval
  • Build partnerships and mutually beneficial relationships with veterinarians and other vendors

Position Responsibilities:

  • Care, Feeding, & Wellness of Animals: Work with dogs and cats in a positive and safe manner.
  • Cleaning and organizing Paw Pad, Canine Corral, Kitty Kondos, Kitty Korner and Intake following cleaning and disease prevention procedures. Taking pride in how the adoption center looks, feels and smells. Going above and beyond for the animals, customers and organization.
  • Having the adoption areas cleaned and organized by opening
  • Noticing sick or injured animals and immediately reporting it for review
  • Observe and understand basic dog and cat body language
  • Enter/Exit kennels safely and attend Dog Handling Class
  • Knowledge and utilization of policies to keep the animals safe in different weather conditions
  • Maintain solid coordination and communications with team
  • Learn adoption counseling process

If you’re looking for an opportunity to do work that really matters, where your personal drive and passion result in better lives for countless dogs and cats, then Texas Humane Heroes wants to hear from you! In this role, you’ll work closely with the Marketing Manager and Development Manager to create awareness, build our fanbase and show appreciation to our donors.

This position is perfect for someone looking to gain experience in a non-profit setting. You’ll need to be able to work some weekends when we have events or opportunities to get out into the community! Creative writing skills and the ability to manage multiple efforts is imperative in this role.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop creative and compelling content for web and social media
  • Create content for the direct mail program
  • Capture images and video of animals, volunteers, team members, events and more as well as create videos using Animoto
  • Integrate into the donor acknowledgement process and perform tasks, such as thank you calls and hand-written acknowledgements
  • Coordinate the Adopt-A-Kennel and Pathway for Paws sponsorship programs
  • Assist the Marketing and Development Manager as needed
