Animal Care Specialist

  • Part-time or full-time, hourly position
  • $11.50/hour
  • PT 20-30 hours/ FT 36-40 hours
  • Center is open for animal care between 9am-6pm, 7 days a week (8am Sat & Sun)
  • Flexible scheduling
Position Overview:

The Texas Humane Heroes Animal Care Specialist will understand and be able to communicate Texas Humane Heroes mission, vision and goals, follow cleaning protocols, handle animals safely, and exhibit a positive and professional attitude. The position is responsible for the health, care, and wellbeing of all animals that are in the care of Texas Humane Heroes, for the entire duration of the time they are in our care.

Please note: this position is physically demanding. Approximately four hours each day are dedicated to deep cleaning of kennels and animal areas. Afternoon hours involve actively orchestrating and participating in animal enrichment and exercise.

Lead Surgery Tech/Clinic Supervisor

  • Full-time, salary position
  • Certified technician with 3+ years veterinary technician experience
  • Full Time 36-40 hours
Position Overview:

This position is the lead technician for all TXHH spay/neuter clinics and low-cost vaccination clinics. This position will assist with inventories and orders for all veterinary medical supplies, vaccinations, drugs, microchips, etc. This position also assists with public clients and public/program paperwork.

Please note: This position is physically demanding. The majority of workdays are spent standing, sitting, bending, squatting, walking, lifting (occasionally up to 50 lbs) as technician lead of spay/neuter and vaccination clinics.

Recovery Clinic Technician

  • Full-time, hourly position
  • $13/hour
  • Full Time 36-38 hours
Position Overview:

This position works to ensure the wellbeing of both our program animals and our clinic patients. On spay and neuter surgery days, the position is the Recovery Technician. On non-clinic days, the position is responsible for preparing the surgery room and all necessary items needed. Twice a month this person will assist at vaccination clinics in Killeen and Leander on Saturdays. The person in this position will understand and be able to communicate Texas Humane Heroes mission, vision and goals, follow cleaning protocols, handle animals safely, and exhibit a positive and professional attitude. The position is responsible for the health, care, and wellbeing of all animals that are in the care of Texas Humane Heroes, for the entire duration of the time they are in our care, as well as public animals that are in our care during surgery and clinic days.

Please note: This position is physically demanding. Approximately four or more hours each day are dedicated to the deep cleaning of kennels and clinics. Must be able to stand, sit, bend, squat, walk, lift (occasionally up to 50 lbs), for long periods.
