August was one for the record books — 106 pets rescued, including 27 urgent medical cases, and 147 adoptions (and counting)! That’s 280 lives changed in just one month.

August Dog of the Month:
Dottie’s Second Chance: Blind, Deaf, and Full of Love
|
|
|
Dottie’s world turned upside down when her owner passed away. Her owner’s family cleaned out the home — but left Dottie behind. She was later found blind, deaf, covered in fleas, and with nails so overgrown she could barely walk.
Texas Humane Heroes clinic team discovered she’ll need one eye removed, treatment for a painful ear infection, and other urgent care. Despite everything, Dottie remains gentle and sweet, soaking up every bit of kindness she’s given.
Thanks to your support, Dottie is now in foster care, healing while we prepare her for surgery — and her second chance at love.

Princess Cake has been at Texas Humane Heroes since March 2024, and she’s been holding court ever since. She is your quintessential calico, grumpy and full of cattitude, but underneath that sass is a charming cat who just needs the right home to appreciate her personality.
Her perfect family will embrace her quirks — and she’ll reward them with all the love she can give… on her terms.
