Ready Fur Love: Katara and Azula’s Dating Stoy
Meet Katara and Azula! They say great things come in pairs and these two are no exception. Katara and Azula are as unique as their names and are special kitties. While Katara is full of personality and is ready to get all your attention, Azula is shy, wanting you to notice her but still give her time to get to know you. Katara’s bright and bold personality is helping Azula realize that showing who she is will only work in her favor! They are the yin to each other’s yang.
While Katara and Azula have opposite personalities, they do have one thing in common- they both have Feline Leukemia Virus. This virus is contagious and damages the cat’s immune system. While this sounds very scary, it doesn’t mean these two will be gone soon. These girls are holding out to experience life with a new family and looking for someone who will see them for who they are, not their illness. Will that be you? Meet Katara and Azula!
What do you think the best way of getting to know someone is?
“I think the best way of getting to know someone is to just put yourself out there and show people the real you right away. I don’t think there is any point in hiding. Why keep secrets? You should be with someone who accepts all of you right away.” -Katara
“I prefer a slower pace. I’m a little shy so I want to take things slow. It makes things more comfortable and less pushy. Plus, taking it day by day just makes the fun of learning about one another last that much longer!” -Azula
What is your favorite saying?
“When life gives you lemons, add a little sugar to make life sweeter!” -Katara
What is the best gift you have ever been given?
“We’ve gotten some pretty cool things in our life but I’m still waiting for the best gift ever- a forever home. Many people are scared of us; scared it won’t be long until we leave, scared we will hurt them or just be a problem. What scares me though, is leaving before knowing what a real family is and what it’s like to love and be loved in return.” -Azula
“I don’t want people judging me on my illness. I want them to know me and know that I can bring a lot of fun and happiness to their lives if they give me a chance!”- Katara
I was the foster of Vivian and Veronica both of whom are healthy and not positive for feline luekemia..are they safe around the 2 luekemia positive kitties? Sounds like its contagious.
Hi Carol,
Thank you so much for fostering Vivian and Veronica! We really appreciate you being a foster for us. Sadly, FeLV is HIGHLY contagious so any cat that is positive for it can only housed with other FeLV+ cats or with other non-cat pets.
Thank you for reaching out to us!
You don’t understand my concern. Both Veronica and Vivian (both less than 6 months old( were moved from Leander to your other facility where 2 feline leukemia positive cats were housed. I am worried if Veronica and Vivian were exposed as they were negative.
Thank you for your concern, but the cats are housed in separate rooms, and we follow strict cleaning protocols. The other kittens at our Killeen Adoption Center will not be exposed.
