February at Texas Humane Heroes
February has been full of progress and lifesaving teamwork at Texas Humane Heroes!
We are excited to share that we officially broke ground on the new dog kennels. This much-needed expansion will help care for even more dogs in need, and we expect the kennels to open by the end of the year. Thank you for helping make this milestone possible.
The 2025 Annual Report is also now available to view online, highlighting the lifesaving impact you made possible over the past year.
We are especially grateful to everyone who supported the rescue of 19 small dogs in January and to the incredible foster community. Ahead of the late-January freeze, 91 dogs were placed into foster homes to keep them safe and warm during the extreme weather.
Because of you, more animals received safety, comfort, and a second chance this winter.

Dog of the Month:
Charlie Bones
Charlie Bones came to Texas Humane Heroes on New Year’s Eve with a shattered knee from a gunshot wound and was severely underweight. After a month of care and weight gain, he was able to receive a leg amputation in the Texas Humane Heroes Clinic.
Now a happy tri-pawd, Charlie is recovering well and loving car rides, pets, and chewing on his favorite bones. He can be a little cautious at first but warms up quickly and is ready for a loving forever home with a soft bed to call his own.

Cat of the Month:
Georgia
Georgia is currently Texas Humane Heroes’ longest-stay cat and has been waiting for her forever home for over a year. At four years old, she’s a sweet and expressive girl who loves gentle head scratches and strolling around the lobby to say hello.
Georgia is very vocal about what she likes (and doesn’t!), so her personality is never a mystery. More than anything, she would love a warm bed and a quiet forever home to finally call her own.
