Pack Pride: Monica Our Dog and Dinosaur Lover

Pack Pride

As an Adoptions Counselor at our Leander location, Monica Gonzalez spends most of her day tending to our adoptable animals. She knows their names, quirks, favorite toys and treats. She works extremely hard on the daily and endures the Texas heat to make sure our pets stay cool during these summer months Three words that describe Monica are reliable, witty, and spunky.

As a Round Rock native, Monica grew up on the area. Her grandfather has a ranch in Georgetown, and from the time she was a child, she would spend days out there with him tending to his pack of animals. She always had pets growing up, and currently has two dogs, Nymeria (4 yrs old) and Bella (3 yrs old) who are best friends. Monica studied Environmental Science at Baylor University (Sic’ em Bears!) and graduated early since she spent most of her time studying and excelling in her classes, reflecting how hard she works at everything she does. She started at Texas Humane Heroes in March of 2018 and enjoys getting to work with the animals since she’s such an animal lover. Her two favorite dogs (both recently adopted) were Coqueta and Pop, who she also shared a birthday with! Her favorite memory from working here so far was seeing Pop get adopted into his forever home! Yay Pop!

Monica loves the Jurassic Park movies, the color yellow, and Mexican food. She wants to one day visit Australia, maybe in the fall season since it’s her favorite season. She also really enjoys iced chais and skittles, both regular and sour. If you’ve adopted a dog from our Leander Adoption Center, you might have had the privilege of meeting Monica – if you haven’t, come on over and she can help you find the perfect addition for your family!
