TXHH Names a New Executive Director

In honor of #WisdomWednesday, we thought we would share a new and exciting update about TXHH with you! That way you can be bursting with knowledge of your favorite local animal organization.

This Valentine’s Day (Aaaww!), Texas Humane Heroes gained a new Executive Director, Kristen Huguley! She is no newbie to the organization, though. Beginning as a volunteer in 2010, Kristen joined the staff as the Adoptions Marketing Manager in 2013. You probably saw her doing our Hero Town Adoptions at the 1890 Ranch PetSmart! Since then, we have been able to expand our presence in the community adding multiple offsite locations, connecting more animals and humans than ever. She has grown within the organization with her last role being the Assistant Director.

Kristen has helped change many things at TXHH, which has only made us a much stronger organization. Her background in marketing has really upped our game in letting all of you know who we are and what we do. That’s including social media (From 3,500 to over 10k Facebook followers, y’all!).

While serving as Assistant Director, Kristen has lead our team of staff and volunteers to achieving some of our highest adoption rates and expanding the areas we serve to help at-risk animals all throughout Texas. Through her strong leadership skills, we are excited to see what positive changes are next in our mission of eliminating pet homelessness.

Kristen received her MBA from Tarleton State University and her BA in Speech Communication and Public Relations from Baylor. During college football season, you can find her in the Baylor stands with her husband, Trey, cheering for her favorite team. During those away games, she is rooting for them from the comfort of her couch with her three rescues Snowball, Patches, and Biggio.

Her experience in the nonprofit world started at a young age due to the positive influence of her family (Shoutout to the Houseton’s!). She has been a Big Sister, helped raise scholarship funds for at-risk youth, and has held multiple volunteer leadership positions at Komen Austin. She has been participating with her mom in Komen’s Race for the Cure for over 10 years! Join them on September 25th in Austin! Kristen’s laugh is sure to get you smiling and laughing right along with her. Her goal is to make a difference in her community and she is well on her way, especially in the lives of homeless pets.

Next time you’re near our Leander Adoption Center, stop on by and say hi to our new Executive Director, Kristen Huguley!

Fun Fact: Think you’re a nerd? Kristen graduated Summa Cum Laude from Baylor!
